Looking forward to fall? I am. OMELET BREAKFAST IS BACK starting October 19th. Wendy (from Bargo) will run it with all of our help. She needs volunteers. The meat raffle is back on the weekends. If you wish to volunteer, please see Becky or me. If you enjoy any of these, spread the word.
As usual, this is going to be a busy year. Coming up (besides the once-a-month breakfast and the meat raffles on Saturday and Sunday), in December will be the Auxiliary Christmas party, the Children's Christmas party and the baskets for troop's families again this year.
Also, the blood drives are back. They may happen every few months. I'll try to keep you updated. The next one is October 2nd, and the one after that may be in January.
We do many things at the Post to keep it active and raise funds for our programs. If you can, please take some time to volunteer at least once for one of the many events going on.
Please come to a meeting; volunteer. As an organization, we can't accomplish anything without your help. Unfortunately, we have had to cut some of our visits to the VA home & hospital because of the lack of help.
I am excited that I have been elected again (it's been a few years). I want to thank Patty Swanson for her time and energy for the last couple of years. It was a long haul for her and she deserves some leisure time, though she's not going far from us.
I also want to thank the Legion for allowing us to use the building for breakfasts, blood drives, etc.
We are a family. Sometimes we spat, but we belong to each other. Let's remember that and work together for the good of all. And DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! We need our voices heard.
Lastly, and MOST IMPORTANT, Veterans Day is coming. Please say an extra prayer for our troops. Remember the ones who have served our country. Approach at least one vet and say "thank you." As our lives get busy, we forget who fought for our quality of life. We forget what they sacrificed. God bless you, and thank you to our current troops and our vets. Thank you to my father and husband.
